About Me

I first taught high school Chemistry and Physics in 1996 as a substitute teacher and loved it.  After three years of law school at Ohio State, seven years of practicing law in Ohio, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and two years living overseas in Berlin, Germany, I am starting a new career as a teacher in the subjects that first captivated me.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is your background? I grew up in California in suburbs all over the state. My college degree is in Political Science, but I've always enjoyed and excelled at math, science, computers, and engineering. I read non-fiction voraciously, mostly history, news, and science.
2. Why did you leave law? Because I wasn't really enjoying law that much, the type of work I was engaged in was disappearing, and I found that there was very little demand for American attorneys while living in Germany.
3. Why did you decide to become a teacher? I enjoyed teaching when I did it years ago, as a long-term sub in a Chemistry class. I am very familiar with the occupation. My relatives who teach, of which there are many, have frequently suggested that I'd make a good teacher. And, there's always a need for more science teachers!
4. Hot enough for you in Virginia? It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

5. Do you speak German? Ein bisschen.
